~ Youtube Videos featuring Kny & How-To be a Youtuber

Hey!  This is a playlist I have created on youtube featuring videos that I’ve been in.

It’s just over a year old now, and it includes over a dozen filmmakers from the Springfield, MO area.  I’m sure there are several videos I’m missing – But that’s okay, cuz we keep making more!

(click to open- Over 38,000 Views!  More if you’re willing!)

Playlist – Youtube Vids with Kny!

If you like one of the videos, please do us a favor – Subscribe to the filmmaker’s channel – Rate the Video – Leave a Comment.  It only takes a couple minutes and it makes every bit of difference to the filmmaker.

When you subscribe, rate or comment that video gets lifted into a new realm – The realm where other people are encouraged to watch it.  Sounds like some kind of weird ritual rites or something huh?  Yup – It’s like magic.  White Magic.

IF you’re not familiar with youtube – click on the “Home” button.  There you will see all different categories.  Why are those videos on those categories?  What makes them so damn special that everyone gets to look at them and not your favorite videos?

It’s viral – It’s Associative, It’s awesome.  If you click “Favorite,” or subscribe, rate or comment on that video – the rest of the world has a better chance of stumbling across that  video – even if only for a moment.  This works because it automatically updates on their subscriber’s pages, their friends and contacts and increases the video’s chances.  Cuz there are billions of viewers watching billions of movies a day on that old youtube thingy – and we don’t make these videos to sit on a shelf.

We make them so people can watch them.

So do all 4 if you can (redundant I know) – Favorite – Rate – Subscribe – Comment

Do it – Watch them and give us a chance to Grow by clicking on some buttons.  You won’t regret it, and you are watching youtube anyway right?

and maybe check out my page

The KenKny Show

But Remember – This works both ways – If you don’t like the Video – Give it a one rating, don’t subscribe and don’t do anything but watch another one.

But do – Give it a One Rating (click on one star) This way – the guy that made the crappy video will get the point and quite making crap – There’s lots of crap on the internet and you- the user has a say in it – Tell em the truth!!! Leave a comment and tell em to cram it!

~ Interview with the Director!

Well, We’re getting closer to wrapping this project up!

I have been blessed with some of the best crew members and most talented actor available in this area. I’m in the middle of a dream come true. But I guess that’s not exactly how it seems, cuz I suffer from Lucid Dreams – and conversely, my perception of reality may be a bit different than others.

Everything that could go right, has – and everything that could go wrong, has fallen from the sky- plummeting to the earth at thousands of miles per hour. Burning through the atmosphere until it explodes against the hard earth…

But it’s going really well! All we have left is a few clusters of scenes – the elusive buggers that have made it this far without being filmed yet. It makes me wonder – If I had lots of money, would it be this hard? Is it only this difficult because I don’t have a budget?

I guess so. We’ll see next time, because this one is going to be so freakin awesome that the whole game is going to change.  I’ve waited years to attempt making something like this happen.  I’ve held my cards and now it’s time to double down and take it home.  Everyone I’ve worked with in the past years has come through – they’ve all volunteered their time and effort for my dreams, and I am one lucky man to have so many friends that mean so well.

This is the biggest thing I’ve ever tried to put together.  Thousands of hours – thousands of conversations – Hell, thousands of dollars in phone bills!  But no more, cuz it got too expensive – and I don’t think anyone should have to pay that much money for a communication device.  I’ve lived for years without a cellphone – and now I have a reason to finally make that “Anit-Cell Phone” video I’ve always talked about!

But – On to the Interview – Check out the Details! Thanks Everyone!!!

In my struggles to figure it all out, I’ve come across a few resources to help me make it. In example – The 10 Commandments of Independent Film Makers – It’s alot like The 4 Agreements… but there isn’t one thing in there about being a lying, stealing weasel…. interesting enough, I guess you don’t have to be a jerkimo to make it in the industry. Who’d have thunk it?

The Entertainment Industry is full of shysters, weasels and ulterior motives. Whether in the professional or amateur levels of the game, there are varying degrees of the types. I’d like to think it’s worse in the amateur, or semi-professional states – due to the lack of money involved and the unwanton habits of those that feel they are entitled to success and fame from a long and hard-lived life of working in obscurity. For no money. They deserve it.

But, I know now that it probably only changes as you progress through the ranks. The lies probably get bigger as the ramifications of your actions begin to delegate and dictate your every next moves. It’s pretty exciting. Since, i guess, everyone will try to take it from you anyway – You might as well just accept it.

Move on, move forward and never take it seriously, personally or with anything more than a grain of salt.

Just a spoon-full of sugar makes the medicine go down!

There will always be people trying to put you down.  This is the industry for dreams, dreamers and the best- most successful medium for the betterment of mankind.  I’ve always known this – but it now has become assimilated with my soul, and as I become a correlated amalgam of woos and woes – I know the source of my pain.

Making my Dreams come true, and including everyone that wants a piece of the action.  Anyone still have dreams out there?

But here at Mount Olympus Films – there is a no-nonsense atmosphere.  Strictly enforced and held evident in everything we do.  Check your Drama at the door and come in.  Somewhere we can feel free to create and have the resources to do so.  The highs and lows still remain, but the pains become transient in our endeavor.  We make new friends, we lose some friends and understand that seldom to never can everyone be completely happy.  But most of us can, really – all of us can.  Sometimes we just need to re-evaluate what makes us happy.

But who am I to talk? I’ve put down some experiences in my existence – and maybe I’m guilty of making myself happy.  Learning to accept that the power is with in me, because no one will ever give me the things it takes.  But not everyone can do that…

Or can we?  Read my poem – “It is Inside”

Cheers to you, I hope we see each other soon!

more coming soon!

~ A Salesman’s 9:Five

If I didn’t have to buy the food to live,
I would never work again.

Then – a dollar would be… worth less than,
the wood inside my head.

As dumb as a man I hardly stand another man’s Commands, and my understandings often understate my
blunders – that – reach farther than my wings can span.

If hired:

I am more than worth the while
to be trained and taught the plan.

I can the crap you’ve made by the mile,
and sell it by the plate.

I love to cash the sun’s rays in,
for days on end, not having- Any fun-

I will sarcastically run my happy ass up
the crack of dawn to get your glory done.

Then sit back, your #1 as you retract my slack,
then offer my job up -
to prevent your checks from being robbed by my
“Employee of the Month.

And be fine, the only one just short on rent.

But as a friend,
If you need need it done that bad – Let’s trade-it out, Go quid pro quo.

You can work for me as… a big steel rod-

Then get paid to go get bent.

~ Clients and the Art of Artisan Maintenance

Time’s winding down, and we’re on the downhill slope of this production – A monster all it’s own.

I’m reminded of the first clients I worked for and the first people I produced with. I’m so glad I’m not working with them now. Some people know how to take all the fun out of something, kill all the creativity and leave you drained. I can’t work with people like that. If only it were a perfect world, but alas, I am still working with some people like that. You know who you are – Cut it out you-

I believe it’s agreed amongst all walks of life that we should be able to live in harmony with one another. Likewise, whenever someone is at the head of a huge creative project, it is probably understood that we can’t work in a hostile environment.

The problem I have working with clients is quite simple. Mutual Understanding. It never ceases to amaze me how much smoke someone is willing to blow up somebody’s skirt. Next time you hire someone, or contract them, or even approach them for your artistic mastery and guidance – be sure to get it in writing at the very beginning. This way, there will never be a contention based upon what was said, and what was heard. Why waste one more minute by saying a bunch of fluff so someone can be excited about a project. Fluffing each other’s pillows with Porky Pies is not a dessert I’d druther.

Give it to me straight, I’m a straight-shooter. I may be subtle, but I’ll tell you the instant I have a problem. If the problem persists, I’ll rectify it… But I’m not about to dance around an obvious disaster waiting to happen. Unfortunately, there is no nice way about it. Once someone has started being dishonest, deceitful or back-stabbing- there are only a few ways that anyone can handle it… Don’t put yourself there. Don’t tell people things- just to sound good. Remember that we still live in a world where people remember how you’ve treated them, and despite your flawed account of the history, the story still lives on.

This is where reputations are made, and people are broken. I, for one, seldom forget when someone has screwed me – in any way, shape or form. I’m like an elephant in this respect, or like an upset Artisan- hellbent on not being screwed again.

Clients- if you are working with a creative person and you’ve given them permission to make something fantastic with you, you must encourage their art. Artists don’t have the ability to jump inside your head and make things as great as you can imagine, but with a bit of cultivating, they may make something even greater than you ever conceived. It’s art. Art is not business. There is no black and white, nor grey, nor right or wrong inside some fantastic plane where everyone agrees on everything. Things change. Some people can improvise, and make purses out of sow’s ears. Somethings get better. Some things cease to exist… especially when they’ve been blown out of proportion and left on the cutting room floor. I myself, prefer to leave all tainted things on the floor, and don’t take them with me.

The worst cases I have personally had, involved clients telling me how much they love my work and my abilities. Abilities and work that have taken me all over the country several times over, and given me a wealth of rich history, stories and learning experiences with some of the biggest names. Somehow, this appreciation is used primarily as a tool to distract and tempt me into working on things. Taking my time, energy and abilities and using them for a purpose. But as the product starts to become an actuality, I seem to watch, as control is tempted from my hands as the client shows their true nature. Never knowing what they really wanted, or how they wanted it – they leap at the opportunity to grab power by it’s horns and make sure that everyone knows how they feel. Is it attention? Is it necessary? Is it possible to shut it and move on?

The only nature I’m concerned with is the original deal, and what comes with it – the hassles of any giant project. If you have several different people working on a project with you, things get very difficult, and a proper manager will take everyone’s abilities and feelings into consideration. This is where leadership comes into play – A good leader is worth his/her weight in gold… or silver if you prefer the real riches…

I’ve had clients rear their ugly heads from on-high, and tower above me as they make their decisions. Shortly after, my decision was made to cease my working with anybody that will compromise my artistic vision and abilities. Years of training (18) in this industry have given me the network and tools I need to function and succeed. I can live without a lot of people, an Introvert with closet Extroverted tendancies - I can cope from a distance and protect myself from further injury. Cuz what’s it really about? Do we need to live our lives as dooshbags (sp!)

and take everything we can from everyone else? As artists, must we fight for what believe in, against eachother? Or is it just commonplace in this era to take everything we can from everyone we find, and never cease til we have built a mountain to protect ourselves and our families from the eminent doom of living in a world full of monsters?

Ridiculosity fills these caverns. I guess the point I wanted to make is in there somewhere.

Take A Personality Test and Find out What works for You!

And everyone that is currently living with their heads inside their asses, may now remove them for betterment to themselves.

~ Club Scene and Last Minute Replacements

Today – Another Fantastic Day in the world of Film… As far as I know it, anyway.

Last minute emergency kept one of the beautiful young stars from being able to appear in tonite’s shoot.  Tragically, last time I had scheduled the scene – she was also struck by an emergency.

We brought all of our gear inside, found ourselves a comfortable place to film as the crowd of 28 people came in to await their direction.   Just so happens, a beautiful young blond is working a very slow evening, and happens to have aspirations of acting and a history of modeling.  Just so happens that all the other victims in the movie are beautiful young blonds.  Just so happens that everything worked out splendidly!  Success – Huge success mind you.

Her scene partner, a young vet to the stage and lense, was every bit as wonderful as I knew she would be, and even better than rehearsed.  So many other great friends decorated the scenes as we swung our monsterous camera around the room on the end of a perfectly-balanced, Hand-Crafted engine of ingenuity, supplied by my ever-inventing Director of Photography, a marvel of his own rite entirely.
A few drinks were had, thank goodness for the strong crew to keep my mind limber and ready for such a task.  As we were walking in to film, the day seemed shot.  They reassured me that everything would be okay… Who would have guessed that there would be a perfect replacement for our vitally missing segment – right there – eager to help.  She learned the lines in a matter of quick-time and delivered splendidly.

I was also fortunate enough to have one of the very best dancers in the area, partner dancing with a new friend in the background, dipping her to the foreground.  The very same guy that gave me my first Salsa Lesson, who has toured the country contest and competition circuits with a winning past.  Fortunate were we indeed.

To top it off, my two very favorite bartenders were able to make it and deliver the same charismatic performances that they always do… But then again, this was the first time I have ever seen them work the same bar… And they’ve been dating since I first met them!

Thanks everyone else – I will get to you soon I’m sure!  You know who you are if you help me all the time… and, actually I’m impressed that any of you have read this, please let me know if ya did!  You guys that always help me – Thank you even more, I’ll see you tmr!

~ Working Working Working

I knew I would have my handsful when I took on a Feature Film as my next Project… Jeez Loweez.

Thank Gooodness for all my dedicated staff members.  We shot a commercial this weekend for the Libertarian Party, and I’m beginning to edit tomorrow – in the mean time, my producers have been keeping themselves busy with phone calls, arrangements and details that would drive a normal person insane, thanks again that my crew is nowhere-near-normal!

We are shooting in Trolley’s tomorrow Night – A beautiful victim will be last seen, and we fly back to the suspenseful madness of this Endeavor.  I’ve heard that working on such dark projects could be a detrimental journey… Silly Naysayers, We have fun – Every time we work.  I hope lots of people are able to make it as extras, as this will be our last big Extra Call “in town.”  We will have one more, but it will be in a city adjacent, and that kinda makes me sad.  BUT- We have had over 160 extras at this point, and that Rocks!

But I’m sure that I was not fully prepared for the incredible struggle that making a Feature Film, with no-money, gads of volunteers, and a diligent crew would really present us with.

Scheduling – OMG!!!!!  For 18 years I’ve been working in this industry.  I’ve seen people dedicate themselves to Theater, Various Community Boards, Shows, and a variety of other vices – Without pay to compensate them.  A successful Film Industry can support an entire community – Even entire cities.  We have the Crew, The Equipment, The Soundtrack, The expertise, tools and other various resources necessary to make this a success – Film lasts forever.  People get to rewind the footage, watch it again, post hateful remarks on the web and replay it whenever they want.

All of about 98% of the people involved know that… And you guys rock – Thank you So much.  There are these other couple people that can’t schedule a rehearsal, can’t keep a scheduled event (including shoots – that often include expensive photographers working for free – hours of moving equipment – cast and crew with full schedules and projects galore).  Somehow I’ve managed to get all of these people together – A veritable Dream Team, but still have a few prima donna’s involved… Never fails, as soon as you try to do something big, someone has to add an obstacle.  Now here we are – 4 weeks from our scheduled wrap… and missing a few very important shoots under the old belt.

~Bummers~

Well, I’ll tell you what.  I have over 18 hours of Awesome footage from a $9,000 rig, $1,000′s worth of sound and the best crew I could have ever imagined to help me through it – So I guess nobody is stopping us.
I start editing the Trailer this week – Then all of you will see what I’m talking about.

Movies – The Greatest Venue for Story-Telling.  One medium that encapsulates every other artistic medium and brings it to the front of our senses.  Our world is all too dark, and it’s only getting darker – So we’ll stick to our guns, and bring this movie to life, and then – we can show our great appreciation to everyone involved as we give it to the rest of the world.

Check out our Supporter’s Links Page!

And don’t let naysayers get you down… There’s always someone trying to burst your bubble.

~ Doin Stuff.

Making a Monster Movie… Turns out the movie is a monster in itself.  The constraints of a no-to-low-budget feature film are amazing.  Amazing, and fun.

Road blocks, obstacles, creative energies combine to make some kind of fantastic product that I can’t wait to see.

After tomorrow’s shoot I’ll be able to start piecing together the Promotional Trailer and Movie Prologue… Lot’s of exciting images that I am sooooo incredibly eager to share with the whole world.
My creative staff has been able to help me create a conduit of all this creative energy, and we are really making something that will treat all the moviegoers’ senses.  I’m exhausted… maybe a bit of acid-reflux, as I really should be in bed.  After all, I’ve got a commercial to film in the morning with a Great-Big Man Baby, and a bowl of gruel…
